Finishing Touches

When there is a chance to decorate a room with something old vs buying new, I always prefer the old.

It is very hard to duplicate the quality and patina in furnishings made today when compared to those made in the 1920’s or before.
I attend dozens of auctions and antique shows every year. I travel with my wish list for clients, friends, and family. The search is part of the fun and often we get very lucky.

The chairs shown below were located at a Christie’s auction in New York. Beautiful walnut frames, and superior construction were masked by the old stained red mohair upholstery.

New upholstery and a good polish was all that was needed. See these same chairs now living in a local dining room.
